The Fantasy Firm

Where Winning is the Law

Judge Johnson’s Chambers

Court is now in session…

Disputes arise in fantasy football, just as they do in life.  Anyone who has played fantasy football for more than a few years can think of a time where they thought a setting or ruling was unfair or that something sketchy had gone down in one of their leagues (transactions and untimely lineup adjustments come to mind).

Any legitimate fantasy football league ought to have concrete bylaws to govern these scenarios, but no set of rules is ever truly prepare to handle each and every situation that might arise.

I have decided to put my legal background to use for those situations that your leagues’ bylaws fail to fully consider.  This section of my blog is dedicated to resolving those disputes that your bylaws do not cover.

Commissioners cannot be completely unbiased as 99% of the time they also own a team in the league and therefore a stake in the outcome of any decision made that affects that league.  So, instead of asking your commissioner to rule as a czar over your league and weigh in on disputes, come here.

  1. Send me an e-mail to the following e-mail address: theFFfirm@gmail.com
  2. Both teams with a direct interest in the dispute should prepare a 1-3 paragraph summary of the dispute with a brief statement explaining why they believe a decision should be made in their favor.
  3. Within 48 hours, as an objective and unbiased third party mediator, I will make a ruling on the dispute, and send an response e-mail to the owners with my decision along with my reasoning for making that decision.
